Celebrate Life with Hayden

Celebrate Life
The Boy Who Wasn’t Supposed to Live…

No, not Harry Potter. Who we are referring to is Henry County’s very own Hayden LaDuke.

When Hayden was three weeks old, something terrible happened. He was rushed to the hospital with traumatic brain injury (TBI) on both sides of his brain. No one thought he would live. Even if he did, the doctors gave him no hope to ever be able to walk, talk, see or hear. They expected him to have a trach to be able to breathe his whole life. But Hayden had different plans.

Hayden was four months old when he was finally discharged into a special needs group home where he stayed until Laura LaDuke agreed to adopt him when he was 1 ½ years old. He was 2 years old before the adoption process was complete and Laura brought him to his “forever home.” Later, Hayden was blessed by a man, Scott LaDuke, who loved him so much that he married his mom, adopted him, and made his forever home complete.

Hayden, in his short lifetime, has come a long way. At three, they were able to successfully remove and rebuild his trachea. He sees. He hears. He talks. And after some time on braces, walks. For many parents, these milestones are taken for granted. For Laura and Scott LaDuke, each milestone for Hayden is a gift from God. Here’s more exciting news: Hayden is learning to read and comprehend, then recall the stories, and write legibly!

There is one more thing to know about Hayden. Even though he was hurt terribly as a baby, he has a tremendously passionate heart…
On July 6, 2017, Hayden, the boy who wasn’t supposed to live, will turn 10!

For his 10th birthday he wants a big party with lots of people. BUT IN LIEU OF GIFTS, HAYDEN WANTS PEOPLE TO DONATE MONEY TO OUR WORLD AT HOPE PARK to give other children with special needs scholarship money to go to Our World special needs school. Hayden’s dream is to have many, many people line up to put donations in the bowl as they are passing by to wish him a Happy Birthday.

Hayden’s birthday party will be held at HOPE Park- Big Spring, McDonough, GA on July 15, 2017 @ 5:00 pm. We would love for you to show up and help him celebrate life! Please RSVP to let us know you are coming. We would like to have enough food and drinks on hand for those who come to celebrate with Hayden.

If you are not able to attend, but want to make Hayden’s 10th birthday wish come true, you may donate on line at: https://form.jotform.us/ OurWorldatHopePark/ happy-10th-birthday-hayden
